Wendigo is an interactive microsite I designed and built independently, using Webflow and its GSAP animation interactions. The project explores how illustration can be used to create an immersive, story-driven digital experience.
Overview
Immersive storytelling experience.
This microsite was designed as an immersive interactive experience, transforming folklore about a well-known cryptid into an interactive, storybook-style journey. The aim was to convey a dark, atmospheric tone as users explore the narrative.
Illustration
Creating a cohesive visual language.
To achieve a cohesive visual language, I created a series of illustrations that reflect the subject matter. Visually, the project draws inspiration from works like The Boat interactive novel and Sticky Monsters by John Kenn Mortensen, using a predominantly black and white style to reinforce the tone, present in both the backgrounds and main illustrations.
Design
Creating Wendigo.
The experience is structured as a continuous scroll, where layered assets move in and out of frame through animation. This enables dynamic behaviours such as zooming, parallax movement, and timed transitions, with interactive moments that encourage users to engage with and reveal the narrative. Several elements were animated in Rive, including backgrounds, mouse tracking, and character drawings.
